Articles and their role in your organic search engine marketing plan
Articles and article directories can have a huge play in your Organic SEO or Organic SEM. For those that are confused on the
difference in those terms let me clarify.
Organic SEO-This stands for organic search engine optimization
Organic SEM-This stands for organic search engine marketing which is moreless kind of like part of why you would do organic seo, to use search
engines to do your marketing for you. Make sense, I hope so!
Ok, so using articles as part of your marketing plan has been very popular for quite some time. Now first I'm going to explain why, then
how, and although I don't like to talk about it much why it may not be so effective in the near future.
Be #1 on Google and Yahoo!
Why do articles work for Organic SEM?
Articles and submitting them to various article directories is not only a great way to get traffic happening to your web site, but it has
become known for a way of getting good backlinks to your website as well.
With writing articles you can write product reviews, some sort of tutorial, recommendation articles, just about anything your mind
can dream up that might be related to your website or perhaps a certain product your promoting.
One of the beautiful things about articles and submitting them to directories is that, other people can also download your articles and place
them on their sites. So what does this possibly mean? You guessed it! It means that you have another traffic source in the
works.
Now writing articles and submitting them to a ton of directories is an excellent part of Organic SEM, but, you have to know how to use your
articles in order to get the value that can be obtained for your search engine optimization.
How to get the most benefit from your articles so that they work for your Organic SEO as a whole
Usually with most article directories your allowed to use what is known as a "bio box". It's in this box where you can explain to people
who you are, what your background is, and to basically introduce yourself and in most cases link to your website. To help with your
search engine marketing placement however, you need to know how to link back to your website.
To link back to your website, we use what is known as "anchor text". Anchor text is a link to your website that is a term that you have
optimized your web page for. It is a certain keyword or keyword phrase that you will use to link to that page. It isn't
just your usual URL of let's say http://www.joeblowstips.com.
Let's say Joe Blow does has a domain called http://www.joeblowstips.com. His website is about playing pool. Joe Blow has
performed his keyword research and the his findings state that the keyword phrase, "playing pool naked" lol, has a high search volume and very
low competition in the search engines. So now, Joe has optimized this particular page for the search term, "playing pool naked".
So in order for Joe to get the most out of his linking in terms of pleasing Google and the other search engines, because of the importance of
linking to your site with relative terms we need to know how to do this.
To do this one would have to use the following html, for the link to work properly, in the eyes of the engines.
<a href=http://www.joeblowstips.com>Playing Pool Naked</a>
This coding would in turn look like this going to his website. Playing Pool
Naked
This would usually be underlined but for the purpose of this demonstration it is not an actual link. You don't
really want to learn how to play pool naked anyway do you?

A Better Strategy
There is a better way that you can link to your website than using the "bio box", but, unfortunately not very many article directories will
let you do this. It is better if you can actually link to your website in the same manner mentioned above if you can link from within the
body of the article. This places a slightly higher value on your link and will help out a bit with your Organic SEM.
So whenever possible use this method. Usually you have to look at the terms and conditions of the particular article directory.
Why this type of linking may not work for Organic SEO or Organic SEM for much longer?
With a growing number of businesses coming on the internet from all over the world, particularly the Asian countries it is taking longer to
get your articles published than before. This is due to the fact of the amount of articles being submitted. And if you consider that
many of the people from Asian countries not only speak english, but also their native language, these articles are being submitted at an alarming
rate. They are also being submitted in different languages. Of course this isn't just Asian countries but according to the experts a
vast majority of the online prescence is from Asia. So with so many articles, and with the search engine companies recognizing that
people use this technique, to improve their search engine placement it isn't going to be as effective for very much longer.
Not only that, but some huge playing companies are now paying some article directories to not allow anchor text in the article or "bio
box". They are also, instructing some of the companies that if they are allowing these links to make them invisible to the search
engines. Usually meaning using the "rel=no follow" tag so that the link will get no credit.
It is for this reason I'm going to end this page with reminding you of the importance of site structure and Latent Semantic Indexing! We
must take this very seriously now if we are going to continue to have results with our organic search engine
placement efforts!
