What is it?  How do I increase link popularity?

Link popularity is the ultimate way in achieving a high page rank and also in improving your search engine ranking.  Link popularity is measured by the number and quality of inbound links coming into your website from other sources. 

Some of these other sources may be other websites, perhaps article directories, high page rank blogs etc.  Of course when we are talking about link popularity it isn’t just the amount of links that you have coming into your website.  It also has a lot do with the theme and the content coming to you.  Link popularity is a very huge factor these days when it comes to having your website perform well for you.  To place yourself into the Top 10 in search engines such as Google, Yahoo and the like you pretty much will need to have good link popularity.

Now just because we may have a lot of links coming into our site, this alone is not going to help you in terms sometimes to increase link popularity.  You must link to your websites pages in a way that is going to give you the best bang for your buck, so to speak.

What are the best ways to build link popularity?

Good question?

Without a doubt the best type of link that you could possibly have coming into your site is with the title of your page in the link, and the title having your most relevant keywords within the link.  The words of your link are the same as the title of your page.  This is what I’m talking about.  There simply isn’t one other way of linking to your site that is as powerful as this method.

The way in which we link to our site this way is with the use of anchor text.  Using anchor text is a way in which your words are the link to your website with your proper web page embedded inside it.

To perform a link in this way we would you use the following code.  Let’s take the term for which a page in this site is optimized for.  I’ll use the term “improve search engine ranking”, which is a parent page of this article.

So to do this you would use the <a href> opening tag, and also the <a/> closing tag, so your link would look like this.

<a href=http://www.davinatorbiz.com/improve_search_engine_ranking.html>improve search engine ranking</a> 

This will provide the proper link to this page and also the proper words which is the pages title and also my main targeted keywords for that page.

A link structured in this way completely targets the page relevance and targets the theme of the page as well.

Now this is only one of the ways to use anchor text, and it is the most beneficial method, but of course if were talking about organic search engine optimization then we must also create ways of making our site and the links going to the site look natural to the search engines.  The chances that linking partners etc, always using the exact same text for links does not look natural in the way that human beings would always make your link.

So we will start to look at some of the other ways to use smart anchor text in the next article to increase link popularity.

We can also look at some ways of improving link popularity that very few people ever use.
